Summary
The Specialist, Publication & Art Design will play an essential role in the conceptualization and creation of omnichannel design projects. Focusing on both SHRM’s print/digital publication portfolios and original concepts, this position will have a keen eye for modern design, graphic trends, typography, color, and layout. This role will partner with various marketers and internal stakeholder teams to deliver high-quality projects guided by brand consistency, creative excellence, compliance and best practice principles.
Responsibilities
· Work in partnership with the Lead, Publications Producer and Editorial teams to execute on all aspects of SHRM’s print and digital publications, including photography management, custom illustration production, and layout direction.
Develop original concepts across print, digital, social and video disciplines, and see through to completion; ensuring projects adhere to existing brand guidelines. Projects include but are not limited to social media and display assets, web pages, flyers, brochures, presentations, email banners, signage and other formats as necessary.
Adhere to timelines and production schedules for deliverables.
Maintain an active familiarity with SHRM’s audience and products and services to ensure designs effectively speak to customer needs and personas.
Contribute to brainstorming and the strategic development of new creative ideas.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or a related field.
Experience
At least three (3) years of agency experience working on branding, integrated digital campaigns, print design delivery, and web
Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite products that include but not limited to: Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe InDesign CC, and Adobe Illustrator CC. Working knowledge of web design tools and Figma.
Prior experience working on a wide range of creative functions including publication design and formatting, branding, communications, advertising, email marketing, digital marketing, website, newsletters, video editing and print.
Strong ability to prioritize projects based on business need and direction from Lead, Publications Producer and create design concepts efficiently and according to agreed-upon deadlines.
Strong communication, collaboration, and active-listening skills for receiving feedback and providing recommendations in a constructive solutions-oriented manner.
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects at once.
Studio photography skills a plus.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Work environment
- Work is regularly performed in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
This job requires occasional travel 0-10%.
