Executive positioning is a key component of SHRM’s strategic communications strategy to elevate the brand. Positioning SHRM executives as thought leaders in the world of work discussions and HR industry adds to a positive perception of the organization and its mission. Executive positioning is a strategic way of defining and leveraging a combination of SHRM proprietary data, content, and human delivery. It is the intentional positioning of a leader across our five key audiences and influencer markets attached and aligned to a particular business goal.
The Executive Positioning Team at SHRM works closely with the brand and communications team to strategize the act of strategically and tactically creating a values-driven and personality-led brand for SHRM key executives, executive-in-resident, and spokespeople.
The Executive Positioning team responsibilities:
Strategy: Support the Manager to refine the key differentiating factor per executive given their expertise to share with mapped audiences and across channels.
Omnichannel execution: Partner with the Manager to create and executive a plan that includes written content, videos, social media, earned media, paid media, owned channels such as SHRM website and events, plus external events and speaking opportunities. To do so requires thought leadership with audience-managers and channel-owners. Project manage the cross-functional work and output as it relates to the executive, their persona and speaking opportunities.
Map and connect with influencers: Support with research and trend analysis of what is happening in the thought leadership space across all things work. Working with earned media and social media teams and vendors, maintain an understanding of fellow brands and thought leaders in our space, engage with media, interact with thought leaders and their development teams, know what events are happening when/where/who is hosting/pitch to secure/etc.
Logistics and scheduling to support Eteam and spokespeople.
Maximize Exposure: Collaborate with the senior strategist to take the brand and marketing plans and map the best usage and placement of SHRM spokespeople. Know where they are going to be and when and ensure they have brand messaging pillars and look for all options to maximize exposure.
Education & Experience Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
· At least one (1) year of progressively complex experience plus an internship.
· Proven project management skills required.
· Must be able to write a strategy, map out multiple audiences and channels are track exposure to ensure maximization.
· Experience with Salesforce a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Leverage learnings from one business unit to another to speaker operations in partnership with the Brand Team, Communications Team, Enterprise Marketing Team, Enterprise Sales Team and the Growth Marketing Team among others.
· Experience with project management, with an ability to multi-task and adhere to tight deadlines required.
· Comfortable in the chaos and ability to pivot quickly and frequently.
· Ability to leverage and prioritize multiple moving projects with competing timelines and budgets.
· Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Expected travel is 20-30% of the time.
