SHRM Specialist, Education Products in Alexandria, Virginia

Overview

The Educational Products department supports SHRM’s mission by offering competency-based asynchronous education to our members to develop and elevate their skills as an HR professional. In addition, the department provides a variety of assessment tools to help HR and business leaders develop strategies to drive organizational performance.

The Specialist, Education Products contributes to the growth of the SHRM Education Products portfolio by supporting business development, acquiring new contracts, managing client relations, and product administration for a series of assessment products. These products are designed to provide HR teams, and organizations, valuable data that can help drive action plans and strategies to improve organizational performance. In this capacity, the Specialist supports the client life-cycle from inbound lead to closing the sale, manages client projects end-to-end project, delivers final products to clients; and provides suggestions for product updates based on client feedback.

Responsibilities

Your Day:

Product Administration

  • Develop a clear understanding of the uses and functionalities across our assessment tool delivery platforms.

  • Program client projects, troubleshoot issues, and run custom reporting out of the delivery platform to ensure client satisfaction and to suggest enhancements.

  • Train clients to use the reporting features and portal, so that they can also review their data in cuts relevant to their needs.

  • Support other senior team members with product administration activities and reporting as needed.

Business Development

  • Support business development efforts by contacting prospective purchasers based on defined client demographics.

  • Coordinate product demonstrations to provide information about the products and services.

  • Respond to, and qualify, inbound leads.

Product Sales

  • Contribute to the annual revenue budget, using a consultative sales approach to successfully close sales with prospects, making appropriate product recommendations based on the client’s needs analysis.

  • Assist other senior team members with complex sales, as needed.

  • Manage the client life cycle through the entire process, working with cross-functional teams as necessary, and serve as the primary customer contact for all activities throughout the process. This includes generating contracts; managing and tracking client invoices; consulting and supporting the client throughout the administration to ensure the assessment is reflective of the requests/needs; and manage the ongoing relationship to identify additional opportunities with SHRM.

Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • High school degree or equivalent

  • 3 years of professional experience in consultative sales and client/customer service experience with a Bachelor, or 7 years of professional experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements in differing stages of the sales cycle.

  • Exceptional written/verbal communications, listening and collaboration skills.

  • Attention to detail, with strict adherence to deadlines.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to work within a team environment, while successfully and timely delivering to internal and external customers at all levels.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • General business acumen, with demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Solid customer service commitment, inclusive of being resourceful, team oriented, and understanding of the needs of our clients.

  • Strong computer software skills and a comfort with learning different technologies.

Let us know if you also have:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.

  • Experience in, or familiarity with, the Human Resources function.

  • Survey software administration and experience.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit; talk and hear, use hands to type, file, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk, lift, carry and move light to medium weight. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and learn technical information. Light lifting is required. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects.
