SHRM’s paid internship program enables students to participate in valuable real-world work experience through a variety of tailored assignments within their areas of interest and fields of study. Students will be tasked with different team specific projects, tasks, and participate in professional development projects and events to prepare them for their future careers. The Demand Generation and Growth Marketing intern will assist in the day-to-day tasks and projects and ensure it aligns with SHRM’s marketing and growth strategies. This intern will be working with departments such as Marketing, Membership, Brand, Events, and other key stakeholders across the organization. This is a paid internship at a starting rate of $20.00/Hour.

Position Description

• Serve as a capable project manager

• Manage a list of regular deliverables and clearly communicate status of each project by managing internal communications

• Assist all members of the marketing team to execute day-to-day deliverables which support growth marketing of products and services

• Contribute to the development of content marketing, including copywriting, proofreading, and content creation for the web and social and paid media.

• Contribute to media asset management, using scheduling tools like SproutSocial and Rollworks to develop and schedule content

• Analyze paid and organic performance metrics to optimize content and posting strategy to improve overall performance

• Understand marketing automation through email marketing

• Carry out division-specific tasks/activities as assigned by the supervisor throughout the duration of the internship

• Manage deliverables and provide regular updates

• Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook

Education and Experience

• Field of study: pursuing a bachelor’s degree in digital communications, media, or other related fields

• 0-3 years of relevant work experience

• Experience or awareness of Salesforce, Wordpress or Marketo is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.

• Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Work Environment

• Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.

• SHRM does operate under a hybrid work schedule and will require you to be in SHRM’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays will be working remotely.
