The Account Executive is responsible for the sale of advertising and sponsorships in various media products, maintaining and growing existing business, and developing and pursuing leads for new business. The position operates with established sales goals and directly contributes to the organization’s overall revenue goals.
Responsibilities:
Conducts outbound contacts (phone calls, email, personal visits) with clients and prospects to sell advertising and sponsorship opportunities within SHRM’s media products
Responds to requests for proposals (RFPs) from clients/prospects and/or their representatives, devising and delivering sales proposals in a professionally persuasive manner and based upon type of budget and/or mix of desired advertising.
Sets objectives, develops advertising and marketing solutions for clients and prospects based upon client budgets and/or mix of desired advertising, and adheres to deadlines.
Meets or exceeds established sales volume and revenue goals. Makes regular sales calls by telephone to develop relationships and follows up on leads. Closes sales.
Provides clients with stellar customer service. Maintains up-to-date electronic customer/prospect contact and history data files.
Stays current on industry trends and specific customer needs, introducing and following up on the development of new SHRM offerings and products.
Analyzes data and prepares and submits regular medium-specific long-and short-range sales forecasts, and other reports as required.
Achieves sales goals within operating budgets.
Participates in conferences, meetings, and tracks competitive media products to remain current on market trends and generation of new sales leads.
Educates potential customers about SHRM and our audience.

Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration field
A minimum of 5 years of professional media advertising experience with a bachelor’s degree; or a minimum of 9 years of professional media advertising experience in lieu of a degree

Required
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Effective relationship building and collaboration skills.
Ability to organize, plan, execute, and coordinate complex deals, as well as to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Basic mathematical problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
Strong business acumen.
Preferred:
Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management software.
Working knowledge of advertising industry.

- Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
